GIFU’S SIGNATURES TAKE CENTER STAGE AT KAMPACHI

Kampachi, the oldest Japanese restaurant in Malaysia, is weaving tradition, history and culinary excellence through its latest showcase of agricultural products of Gifu Prefecture. The event is graced by the esteemed presence of Gifu Prefecture Governor, Mr. Hajime Furuta and Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, His Excellency Katsuhiko Takahashi.

The showcase runs exclusively from 17 to 23 July 2023 at Kampachi Restaurants and features Ayu fish and Hida beef, two highlights of the prefecture. In addition to these delights, the event also features exquisite produce such as Kikurage mushroom, Shungiku and Gohei-mochi enhancing the authenticity of Gifu culinary experience.

Located between Tokyo and Kyoto, Gifu Prefecture is a haven of immersive natural beauty, nestled amidst the breathtaking Japanese mountain range that reaches heights of 3,000m. Its pristine rivers and lush forests, fresh environment and sustainability practices have earned it a well-deserved recognition for its exceptional agricultural produces.

Becoming the inaugural ‘Recommended Overseas Gifu Ayu Restaurant’ in Malaysia, Kampachi has achieved a prestigious certification by the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS), ‘Ayu of the Nagara River System’ Promotion Association. This recognition is bestowed upon restaurants and retail stores operating outside of Japan, which utilises Ayu fish sourced from Gifu rivers or produced in Gifu fish farms. Kampachi is honoured as the first recommended restaurant in Malaysia to receive this esteemed certification.
