The National Human Resources Leadership Forum 2024, held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur, drew around 200 prominent HR professionals. The event, with the theme “Becoming Top Employers of Choice: Addressing Key HR Leadership Challenges,” was a collaborative effort between KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur.
In a world characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA), the role of leadership is more crucial than ever. The forum was designed to address how Human Resource (HR) Managers can evolve from traditional managerial roles to strategic leadership positions. This shift is driven by the need for behavioural change, mindset transformation, and the integration of technological advancements, including the impact of artificial intelligence (AI).
The forum’s key focus was on how HR leaders can adeptly navigate these challenges to make organizations more attractive to a younger, tech-savvy workforce. Discussions also addressed unique challenges faced in Malaysia, such as fostering harmonious inter-racial relations and advancing the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agenda.
Distinguished speakers from diverse backgrounds lent their expertise to enrich the discussions. Among them were: · Mr. Anthony Raja Devadoss, Managing Director & Senior Client Partner, Korn Ferry Malaysia · Ms. Zarinah Nalla, Director of Project Engagement, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) · Ms. Ivlynn Yap, Executive Chairman, Citrine One Group
The event featured a Special Keynote Address titled “Governance, Ethics and Leadership” delivered by YABhg. Tun Dato’ Seri Zaki Tun Azmi, Former Chief Justice of Malaysia and Chancellor of Multimedia University. His address provided invaluable insights into the ethical dimensions of leadership and governance in the context of HR practices.
The highlight of the day was the Presentation of the Human Resources Leadership Icon Awards and the Top Employers Awards. The awards celebrated 15 exemplary organizations across various categories, recognizing their outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of HR. Notable recipients included Affin Bank Behad, Telekom Malaysia, Star Media Group, AIA Berhad, Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Datuk (Dr.) Nora A Manaf, Group Chief Human Capital Officer, Maybank, among others.
